Sasha Marelwanya

Hi, my name is Kealeboga Maselwanyana best known as Sasha. I am currently working on obtaining my undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Live Performance. I have a Higher Certificate in Film Television and Entertainment Production that I obtained in 2019. However, the calling of being a performer had been ringing louder, which inspired me to pursue this degree. Since the age of 3/4, I was always been involved in getting myself into anything that required me to be on stage, regardless of the stage fright I had. Throughout my days in primary and high school: organizing and directing house plays, gathering choir members for designated public holidays, and raising awareness through peaceful marches was something I had always found to be exhilarating. Therefore, pursuing this passion for my better future will hopefully inspire others to follow their dreams and never give up on them.

Caitlin Robson
Tasmika Nurbadh

My name is Caitlin Robson and I am one of the writers/directors for Masochisto. I am an avid creative who enjoys spending my time reading, video editing, drawing, writing poetry, and creating artistic representations of who I am. Besides being creative, I am also very natural and animal-oriented, whenever I have free time I use that to give back to the environment and community by helping organizations involved with abandoned or abused animals – caring for animals and the environment is a big passion of mine as I feel that it is important to give a voice to the voiceless.

The inspiration behind writing Masochisto with my co-partner came from an inner need to show and represent something that had the ability to help and validate individuals with a similar experience explored within the film.

As a Leo sun - the ruler of creativity - and a mentally ill human, naturally I found myself a tortured artist in this lifetime. not only has my trauma given me multiple mental issues, but it has also given me a great sense of humor Tasmika also knows as ‘ Tazi ’ is an up - and - coming writer. Masochisto is a production that sits close to her heart as she wants to show the world the dangers of self-harm and the impact it has on people's lives around the world. This story was written for people that often do not get seen or heard, to know that some people are listening and do care

Nathalie Bradnick

Since I was young, I always huddled around a TV to watch my favorite shows. I was taken aback by the worlds shown to me. I didn’t know much at the time, but I did know that I wanted to be a part of those worlds. Producering was the solution for me. A way for me to be a part of a bigger picture and have a say in what is put onto the screen. I love my job and I intend on working hard to be able to live out my childhood dreams.

Lebone Segoe

My name is Lebone Segoe, I’m one of the co-producers for Masochisto besides my discipline I like to engage in various forms of creative activity to gain insight as to how everything works in, film art, and possibly life, for the future I plan to do more than producing as writing is closest to my heart and even directing.

Caitlin Lock

I  am Caitlin Lock, the editor and script supervisor of the short film Masochisto. I absolutely adore editing and the power it must influence an audience’s experience with a simple cut. Hence, I am always pushing myself to find new, creative ways to viscerally represent stories on screen. With the experimental nature of Masochisto, I was able to play around with the edit more freely - testing limits within the medium, and my self, discovering my own personal style of quick cutting. Currently, I am a third-year AFDA student studying editing and writing. Once I have graduated, I want to pursue editing as a full - time career, working on larger projects, while simultaneously homing in my editing skills.

Keeran Delport

Hi, I'm Keeran Delport and I'm the sound designer for Masochisto. This is my first - time doing sound for an experimental film, and it has allowed me to think more creatively on how I want to tell the story through sound and how to make the film more disturbing

Reigatsekhumo Phalatsi

Hi, I’m Reikagetsekhumo Phalatsi, the costume design stylist for the film. A little bit about me is that I’m very into DIY projects and learning how make things yourself because it creates a c onstant challenge at keeps me on my toes an lets me stretch my creative wings, I explore this by knitting and sewing and I have recently picked up crocheting. When I first came to AFDA I was aiming to be a director, but I ended up falling in love with cost ume design and it introduced me to a whole new world of makeup and how clothing can reflect someone’s personality. Working on this film was interesting because I was able to try new techniques and stretch myself a bit with my special effects makeup skills and beauty makeup. I also challenged myself in costume creation which allowed me to learn from my various mistakes and develop new skills such as pattern drafting which I couldn’t do before.

Jada Leew

I am Jada Danielle Leew a dancer and a colourist and an overall aspiring filmmaker. My love for any form of entertainment runs deep, I am currently doing a BA motion picture degree at AFDA majoring in data and grading. The reason I chose data and grading is that you get to be the other storyteller in forms of colour and the world of colour is so vague and colour plays a big role in portraying the message and connecting to the audience. I am also working on my animating skills.

Amy James

I am an aspiring VFX artist who aims to one day create movie magic. Being able to build a fantasy world by rep resenting those creations on a film screen. Realities through visual effects is very appealing to me. With my hard work, dedication, imagination, and creativity, I aim to create masterpieces using visual effects. My experience at AFDA has been amazing an d will get me ready to explore future career opportunities.
